Surely Galileo ought to warn us of the dangers of substituting inferences from the biblical narrative for scientific fact. The earth does go round the sun, evolution is a fact, and God's in his heaven, the more wonderful for those revelations. The increasing problem for Christians is how we deal with other scientific knowledge which deals with human personality. Recent understanding of the baby in the womb ought to make us even more opposed to abortion. Greater clarity on homosexuality may make us more willing to love our gay neighbour. God expects us to use our talents and not bury them. Scripture, tradition, and reason have to be held together if we are not to mistake mere obscurantism for Gospel values.

Michael, T-Mobile registered me with a service that stops you taking out credit agreements without the company speaking to you in person and getting a special password only held by the screening company. I think this was a tacet admission of guilt. I did hear a rumour that they had lost data via a company overseas that was doing data processing for them, but thats only a rumour.

And yes, T-Mobile isn't admitting to anything. But we will see what happens. I have just due to precautionary measures - put a lock on my credit report, filed a police statement, and removed all auto-pay from any revolving accounts.

I too was shocked by what you have experienced Gordon; similarly, If I shared some of mine and my family's experiences they would make your jaw drop. I was a minister who for a long time abandoned the church, taking the view that although Jesus was great, the church sucked. I think what you experienced (as in most cases)comes down to plain old fear. Fear of what they don't understand or fear that their inadequacy or incompetence in this area will be exposed. Leaders (Church or otherwise) tend to well supplied with ego.

Oh, and then there are the Pharisaic ones who accept nothing but their own blinkered opinion and woe to anyone who questions them. They can do untold damage.

But amongst all this mess there are the godly ones, the humble, genuinely caring ones, who love and serve others as though it's second nature. And for the Christian suffering from mental illness, it's finding out those who will be true friends to help them on the journey to recovery. I accept that may not be easy.

Recently, I was reminded in the Bible that although the church can and does fail people, Jesus still loves it. So for me now, my mission is to provide education to churches/leaders on faith and mental health and (I hope) do my bit to remove some of the fear and prejudice.

The code I have given does not include loop="false". Not sure where you got that from. I actually stopped using the Google audio player and switched to the Wordpress flash player which i call up from my own server for Blogger pages. You can see an example here:

Very interesting article Gordon.Thank you very much. I agree with everything you say as I have been experementing with drill sizes in both Cornet and Trumpet mouthpieces and i totally agree that the mouthpiece throat drill size is one of the most important aspects of the mouth piece that can be easly altered to balance it to the horn. One is able to retain all the other aspects of ones favorite mouthpiece and enable it to make the overall blow/resistance match your needs. I have heard too many trumpet players in my time critisize a perfectly good instrument when quite often it is either the back bore or the drill size of the mouthpiece that is not a good match for the horn that they are reviewing. To put it in a motor mechanics terms. The needle in the carburetta must must be the right size to allow the correct flow. Trumpet bore sizes supplied by the manafacturers can be very confusing as many trumpets bore sizes will vary throughout the same instrument. Many famous trumpets have the same conical bore design as a cornet but with a trumpet wrap instead of the exta varied wraps a cornet will have. Many large bor horns will have a smaller bell bore size than the main bore of the instrument.
